Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Nov. 26th, 2009 @ 09:32 am
...and thanks for being you. You've been a wonderful bunch of friends, and I am wishing you and your loved ones all the best...even if you don't celebrate this holiday. :)

One thing not too early Nov. 25th, 2009 @ 11:04 am
I've been increasingly annoyed at how early things have shifted into "Christmas Mode" over the past few years, with places and radio stations seemingly gearing up the day after Halloween now.

I mean, frick people, give it a break. Whatever happened to at least waiting until AFTER Thanksgiving...

But you know what? One thing managed to slip through my web of early-season-cynicism. Our company put out a "Toys-for-Tots" box today...and I'm all right with that.

Too many games with [info]kuzanagi_ perhaps, but this is pretty fucking cool:

In the spirit of international cooperation between the UK and the US Nov. 16th, 2009 @ 08:33 am
I would like to announce that [info]kuzanagi_ and I met up online yesterday evening and proceeded to kick the butts of, and get our butts kicked by virtual terrorists, ultra-nationalists from opposing nations, and snow-covered coniferous trees.

And then we went on to get our butts kick by other people online.

It was brilliant. Thanks for the good times, mate!

I have Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit stuck in my head.

...I blame last night's work out for this.

It's not all that bad, considering I can push it into the background music section of my brain :)

Another year...and so many reasons to be thankful, new and old Nov. 11th, 2009 @ 10:36 am
To everyone who has served in the military, or have had a loved one that has served, thank you for your dedication and your sacrifice.

I have heard the muzak version of Hey Jude... Nov. 10th, 2009 @ 08:54 am
...and I'm pretty horrified.

More accurately, it was both [info]r_is_for_rose and I that heard it while grocery shopping last night.

On a positive note, when I got home, I started muttering Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da at home to get the muzak out of my head. I woke up this morning with the CORRECT version of Hey Jude stuck in my head.

...and then the radio played Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da on the way to work :D

A hundred walks of life... Nov. 9th, 2009 @ 01:16 pm
I have no idea why I chose that title, but I think I might kick off my shoes occasionally at another "social networking site" (woah, this late web 2.0/social networking thing is getting out of hand, isn't it).

Mind you, it has little to do with my absence on LJ, or indeed, where I spend my time at all. My interest in this is....well...purely out of interest for the model. Call it my 'summer home' to user driven online community.

So, is anyone on LibraryThing? Has anyone heard of it?

The wikipedia article on it had some general information that stoked my curiosity. I suppose it's worth dipping my toes in the pool.

Heh, I can already hear [info]r_is_for_rose snorting with amusement. She's probably thinking "After 5 years, you're still not done with 1 book...and you want to do what?!" as she reads this :)

Two white guys from Leeds...and a beatbox. Oct. 15th, 2009 @ 01:36 pm
Because I can...or rather, because they can.

It's awkward nerd-hop and its pretty good. Ha!

And here's one of Brett doing a Michael Jackson Medley on a Keytar. No, it's not as horrible as it sounds. Just listen :)

I'm off to Baltimore for my Birthday soon Oct. 9th, 2009 @ 03:38 pm
...so I say hello. I won't get to see most of you, but there will be cake and if you do show up, you're certainly welcome to a piece.

...and so I say hello to those of you I might see. I hope to see you in person, and of course there is cake and you're certainly welcome to a piece. Two if you'd like.

...and of course, when I get back, I still wont be a "year older" because my birthday is actually on monday, and work wont give me the time off. I know, don't you think its time that COLUMBUS DAY was made an intergalactic holiday?

Fuck yeah :)

Saturday. Baltimore. Mick O'Shea's (as always). See you sometime around 7-ish.

Maybe I be older, and yet no wiser :)

I made it through Rotten Tomatoes' Worst 100 movies of the decade without having seen any one of these! :D

The closest I've come is catching a few minutes of one or two of these as they were played on TV or in restaurants where I was forced to eat. :D

Now it would be unfair to say that this could ONLY happen at my school. But you know, I'm not surprised that it did.

Student Kills Intruder with Samurai Sword

Yep, someone at Johns Hopkins figured his home was being broken into and decided to confront the intruder with a samurai sword.

God, we are such dorks. GO BLUE JAYS!

I pretty much have to agree with 99.999% this article on CNN/The Frisky:

Why are some men drawn to redheads?

...though I think it should be pointed out that some women are attracted to female redheads. :D

Thanks to my very loving blonde for bringing this one to my attention :)
