OMG, there's a video for this? Jun. 29th, 2009 @ 03:29 pm
OK, hell. All I remember video wise was a tractor scene from...footloose I think :)

I didn't know until now that there was an "official" video for this song.

*Watches in horror* :D

So there's this water wheel... Jun. 3rd, 2009 @ 04:05 pm
that caught my eye the last time I went to get fresh strawberries. Today we had a chance to stop by there. Turns out, "Yates Mill Pond" is a park, that has access to the historic mill. I didnt have to risk getting run over, shooting pictures from the middle of the road, after all. :D

and just a few more currently available here (you can click on the slide show to go to the album)

And happy birthday (today) to [info]weered1! I hope it's a good one my friend. Enjoy :)

So here's the pont where I.... May. 14th, 2009 @ 10:31 am
...ask, "how are you?"

And then you all leave little comments to my entry, instead of me clicking on the friend's page link. :D

I've been busy, I've been going crazy with work, and not nearly enough with Taekwondo. This month is packed...looks like we're trying to do something every weekend (which has its ups and downs). My parents want to come visit R and I sometime in June.

R is an aunt. Cognrats to [info]weered1 and [info]justshowtune We saw the little one (sorry, he's still Cupcake to me) last weekend. What a beautiful boy. :D

I saw Star Trek with R on tuesday. And despite a million things you could find wrong with it I (at least) still think it rocks :D

I also had pizza at a local little shop in Raleigh, and I'm definately going back. It rocks too...like 800-ways-we-can-serve-you-stuff kind of rocks. Custom made if you want, local and organic ingrediants, and a slightly sweetned, bready crust. Mmmmm

I should mention stromboli the size of horses...er...uh. [doesnt mention it]

:D

Oh, and I see there's an LJ user group for people who misplace their keys. I'll admit, I find it very interesting, but I've already got me my own very local support for that...and I have to say, I love her :D

If you ever wanted to bash GB in the face with a stick... Apr. 26th, 2009 @ 06:06 pm
...well, it's not quite your chance, but at least you can watch.

So local tournament yesterday was fun. I got to see a lot of students / families from our schools that had never been to a tournament before. As for results, I didn't do fare too badly. I even got an extra point I needed to tie for the lead in the sparring standings.

What was even more enjoyable, though, was the start of the tournament: we had an exhibition competition in "Combat Weapon Sparring" -- event that's getting more practiced in our organization. It's sparring with a single Banhg Mahng Ee (a combat stick, similar in principal to a truncheon or a "single stick"). It was great to have almost the whole tournament focused on us, a lot of cheering all around, and a lot of questions asked afterwards. I think I got asked "That looked like fun, how was it?" at least 8 or 9 times :)

[info]r_is_for_rose brought her camera as always, and parked herself square in my cheering section :)

Here's the first round of three (I didnt draw a bye, so I had to go through the whole bracket). I'm on the right (the "Red" competitor). Mr. Martin is on the left. I won this 9-7 at the end of the two minute round.

Here's my semi-final round match up. I'm on the left here ("White" for scorekeeping) and took this one on points, 10-6. Mr. Jackson (who happened to be my training partner, and who beat me soundly in training, is on the right).

And here's the final round for our division, vs. a fellow schoolmate, Ms. Thomas. Apparently this divided some of the crowd, you can hear one of our friends boo me after my second scoring..."Because she had to root for one of the girls" :D

This one ended on time, and a narrow vitory at 9-8.

Enjoy :D

So how many of you are watching the YTSO? Apr. 15th, 2009 @ 08:38 am
That's the You Tube Symphony Orchestra.

Just in case some of you might be interested (and didn't hear about this), You Tube put out an open request for symphony auditions several months ago. [I heard that by some count] They got 3000 or so submissions from all over the world. Those that were chosen flew in to New York to practice and rehearse together...

So today they play. They're performing from Carnegie hall...and of course the grand experiment will be broadcast on YouTube.

I must admit... I'm very interested in the way they've decided to put this whole thing together. I find it adventurous, inventive, and full of possibilities...so of course, I'll be sneaking peeks when I can :)

Hey it's snowing! Jan. 20th, 2009 @ 08:26 am
It's actually snowing here in NC! As in, we've gotten more than an inch!

And I still have to work, considering that yesterday the main office had an all-day power outage that kept me from getting anything done. Bah! Stoooopid deadlines.

WFH with all this snow is gonna be tough :D
